August 2022 - Solstice Senior Living Center

Today a handful of my piano students had the wonderful experience of playing at Solstice Senior Living Center (55 Ayrault Road, Fairport). The staff graciously welcomed us into their sunny atrium and the residents gathered around the piano, seated on couches and chairs, while the students presented their pieces. Everyone played beautifully, and as the students were playing, I was looking around at the audience, watching their faces and body language. Toes were tapping, faces were relaxed and smiling, fingers were dancing on laps, a couple of friends leaned into each other and “whispered” how much they loved that particular melody. Bringing joy. Isn’t that what music does? Connecting humanity through a shared love of music.

I’m so grateful for all of my students. Bravo! Thanks for showing up today.
